"Standing still is not an option.
Our success depends upon our ability to capitalize on the potential of broadband innovation and advanced communications technology for the benefit of all Americans."Our nation’s leadership is based in part on our productivity and innovation, not only in business, but also in education, healthcare and government. These features of our economy, and our ability to make social progress, now more than ever, depend upon our full development and integration of broadband Internet and related digital technologies into our economy, our communities and our lives.
Answering the challenges of technological development, deployment and use requires a more aggressive approach than we have taken in the past. We must create a new culture of understanding wherein digital technologies serve as the cornerstone of each facet of American life. From healthcare to education to increased government efficiency and entrepreneurship, we must be proactive in ensuring that all Americans actively participate in, and become full beneficiaries of, our increasingly digital economy.
For this event, we will focus on policies directed at enhanced productivity and efficiency in the areas of healthcare, education and governmental services. Our primary focus will be on demand side advanced communications programs and policies that should be implemented to stimulate greater access, higher demand and more efficient use of advanced communications services and products for the purpose of improving the quality of life of all Americans.
